5 years of the General Data Protection Regulation / GDPR

What is the GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has created a single legal framework in the European Union. With the regulation, rules have come into force for all companies and organizations that offer goods and services in the EU or collect and analyze data on EU citizens. Thus, since May 25, 2018, there is an obligation to document, evaluate and provide electronically on request every process in which personal data is collected, processed or stored in the system.

According to a recent survey by bitkom, the European General Data Protection Regulation is widely perceived as a barrier to innovation and an obstacle to growth and prosperity in the digital world in Germany. 62 percent of companies are hesitant to use data due to data protection concerns. Almost as many (60 percent) have already halted innovation plans due to data protection regulations or uncertainties. Of these, 22 percent of companies say this happens frequently, while it has happened several times for 24 percent and once for 14 percent.

TSO-DATA offers technical support for companies in implementing the DSGVO requirements in their enterprise solutions, e.g. with the DSGVO ToolBox for Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Dynamics 365 Business Central and for Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and the DSGVO ToolBox for the document management system M-Files.

The GDPR Toolbox for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central helps you meet GDPR requirements in terms of documenting and reporting your Business Central / NAV processes - such as identifying personal data, classifying tables, and generating and processing deletion and anonymization suggestions. Respond within the legal deadline to requests from data subjects, for example - document them and inform or export personal data from Business Central / NAV as needed. Check and document user logins and access rights in Dynamics and reduce your documentation effort with the help of integrated evaluations. The DSGVO ToolBox is available for the Business Central on-premises variant as well as for Business Central Online (see Microsoft AppSource).

In the video, you will learn about the functions of the GDPR ToolBox and the possible uses of the solution.

To ensure that the documentation and reporting of your CRM Dynamics 365 processes meet the high requirements of the GDPR, we support you in this area with our GDPR toolbox for CRM-Microsoft Dynamics 365. Respond within the legal deadline, for example, to requests from data subjects - document them and, if necessary, export and send the personal data from CRM-Microsoft Dynamics 365.

The EU Directive on the General Data Protection Regulation also poses major challenges for users of the M-Files ECM solution. On the one hand, personal data must be better protected, and on the other hand, it must be possible to retrieve this data easily and quickly. In addition, data must be deleted according to their respective retention periods. The DSGVO Toolbox for M-Files solves these requirements with the help of M-Files' metadata-based document repository. This is because data protection regulations and data destruction regulations are properties, i.e. "keywords", called metadata, which can be automatically or individually included for each document class.
