Adjustment of the Business Central Online conditions

In recent years, Microsoft has continuously invested heavily in the Business Central platform and the expansion of the range of functions, such as

  • Enhanced AI capabilities (especially with Microsoft Copilot)
  • Deeper integration with Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform
  • New modules within the solution (e.g. in the areas of subscription billing or sustainability management)
  • Semi-annual feature updates in areas such as finance, supply chain

and manufacturing creating a state-of-the-art and international solution.

Microsoft has announced a price adjustment for Dynamics 365 Business Central Online (SaaS) for October 1, 2025. This is the first "real" price adjustment for Business Central Online in over five years. At the same time, the included storage space will increase by at least 50% for defined user licenses.

Here you will find further information and our recommendations:

1. price increases for licenses (approx. 10%):

  • Business Central Essentials increases from approx. $70/month to approx. $80/month (per user)
  • Business Central Premium increases from approx. $100/month to approx. $110/month (per user)
  • Business Central Device increases from approx. $40/month to approx. $45/month (per device)

Prices with a minimum annual term commitment and annual billing.

Note: The exact euro prices will only be announced by Microsoft with the official price list for October 2025.

2. Increase of the included storage space:

Parallel to the price adjustments, Microsoft is increasing the storage space included in the licenses

  • Business Central Essentials increases from 2 GB to 3 GB per user.
  • Business Central Premium increases from 3 GB to 5 GB per user.
  • Business Central Device increases from 1 GB to 1.5 GB per device.

This additional storage space applies per Business Central license within the tenant.

3. Date of validity:

  • New subscriptions: The new prices and increased storage space will apply from October 1, 2025.
  • Existing subscriptions: The new conditions will take effect at the next renewal of the subscription, provided this takes place on or after October 1, 2025. Licenses purchased before this date will be billed at the current price until the renewal date.

4. Effects on on-premises solutions:

Price adjustments in the area of on-premises solutions (Dynamics NAV and Business Central On-Premises) will also take effect from October 2025. These include:

  • Increase in the enhancement plan: The rate for the Enhancement Plan (maintenance contract) increases from 19% to 20%.
  • Price increase for on-premises products and subscriptions: The prices for purchase and subscription licenses for on-premises products will increase by approx. 10-11%.

5. Our recommendation for you:

  • Check existing licenses: Analyze current licenses and storage requirements and identify any need for action at an early stage.
  • Contract extensions: If possible and sensible, it may be worth concluding or extending contracts before September 30, 2025 in order to secure the old conditions for the selected fixed term.
  • Check cloud strategy: For existing customers with on-premises licenses, Microsoft continues to offer the "Bridge to the Cloud 2" promotion to make the switch to the cloud more cost-effective.
