Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central offers a comprehensive business application solution designed and continuously optimised for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Since its launch in April 2018, Business Central, as the successor to Dynamics NAV (formerly Navision), has enjoyed increasing popularity among companies looking to drive digital transformation. Getting started is particularly quick and easy with our PowerStart concept, which supports you in getting started directly with the ERP from the cloud - even in the current version.
Version 19 of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will be made available in October 2021. Users of the cloud version can then control via the Admin Center when exactly this update can be introduced in their system. Without these settings, the update will be reliably installed automatically approx. 14 days after availability.
We would like to present some interesting new features in this article.
In the new version Business Central 19, the standard line type of the document can be predefined in the "Accounts Receivable & Sales Setup" or in the "Accounts Payable & Purchasing Setup". If, for example, you work a lot with resources or G/L accounts, these can be set so that the newly opened document already has this type predefined. We will demonstrate this here using the example of sales.
Furthermore, a request from the Business Central community has been implemented and it is now possible to show more columns than in previous versions. The fields should then already be available or they can be added via "Personalise". This affects many pages, we would like to show it with the example of the "Get goods receipt rows" function. In Business Central 18 it was not possible to show the fields "Vendor order no.", "Credit delivery no.", "Credit article no." and "Article reference no.". With version 19, this is now also possible without adjustment.
Another new feature is the possibility to comfortably open and/or edit files directly with Excel using the new button "Share this page with other users or apps" in the lists or on the pages and also to share them in Microsoft Teams.
It should be noted that the Teams integration is a cloud-only feature. However, sharing a copy of a link in Teams is still possible. If, for example, "Share with Teams" is selected in the field shown, a dialogue box opens which must now be set.
After selecting a person or group, the comment can still be expanded and then the information can be shared.
After sharing, this is now confirmed.
The recipient is then taken directly to the Business Central environment by means of the link sent.
Other new features can be found in the areas of Application, Development, Modern Clients, among others. You can find a complete list of the new functions here at Microsoft in the release plan.
