29.10.2025
The Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt) will deactivate the existing XML-RPC interface for VAT identification number verification (VAT ID verification) on November 30, 2025. From this date onwards, VAT ID numbers can only be verified using the BZSt's new REST API.
What does this mean for users of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central?
Business Central supports the EU VIES service for simple verification as standard. Many companies use extensions such as KatarGo, the VAT ID Check App, or similar solutions for qualified VAT ID verification instead. To ensure that these checks continue to function after the deadline, the respective add-ons or interfaces must be converted to the new REST API.
Recommended action
Companies that use Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central On-Premises with add-ons or have developed their own integration for VAT ID verification should check in good time whether,
From November 30, 2025, checks will no longer be possible via the old interface, and failed checks may entail tax risks.
Changes in KatarGo
Starting with KatarGo version 24, a new interface for VAT ID verification is available. Activation is done via the service connections in the “BZSt eVatR API Setup” section. All existing functions remain available and automatically use the new interface, so there are no changes in the workflow for users.
Upgrade Note
For existing projects that already use the BZSt VAT ID verification, the upgrade routine will handle the transition completely. The new REST API will be activated, and the old XML-RPC interface will be deactivated. No additional steps are required.
