The document management system M-Files continues to evolve, providing organizations with an even more powerful and intuitive solution for managing their information. The December 2025 release delivers numerous updates that offer noticeable improvements for both end users and administrators.
New "Version Editors" property to track document editors
A new property now shows who edited or co-authored each document version in M-Files Web and the new Desktop. To avoid confusion, this property is hidden in the Classic Desktop client.
New Sharing Center for Web and New Desktop
The Sharing Center introduces a centralized interface for sharing, managing, and tracking external collaboration. In this initial version, users can create and manage Visitor Links directly from the new clients.
Pinned Views for Key Object Types (Workspaces)
Admins can now pin views for important object types to the main menu in the new Desktop and Web clients. This helps users quickly find key objects and access their related workspaces.
Automatic update of assignment lists
In the new Desktop and Web clients, completed assignments are now automatically removed from the user’s list—no manual refresh needed.
Vault name moved to top app bar
The vault name is now shown in the top app bar instead of the breadcrumb area, offering a cleaner layout and better visibility.
Enhancements in View Management
Admins can now enable a feature that shows object counts in virtual folders. Users can also filter views based on custom access control lists (ACLs), ensuring that only permitted objects are displayed.
Manual conflict resolution in new clients
When version conflicts occur, users in the new Web and Desktop clients can now manually review, accept, or reject changes—just like in the Classic client.
Automatic logout for concurrent license users (Web)
Concurrent license users in the Web client are now automatically logged out after inactivity. User interactions (mouse/keyboard) keep the session alive; otherwise, the user is logged out and redirected to the login page—helping with security and license optimization.
Customizable Workspace Tabs for users and admin
Users can now create, rename, hide, or delete their own workspace tabs. Admins can define common tabs for all users to ensure consistency across the organization.
Object-type-specific refresh for external objects
In M-Files Admin, each external object type can now have its own "Refresh Type" configured—allowing more granular control over external object syncing.
UIX v2 Enhancements: Uploads, Downloads, and APIs
UIX apps now support temporary file uploads and downloading files as DataURIs. New supported API methods include GetLatestObjectVersion, SearchObjects (with SearchFlag), and GetObjectDataOfMultipleObjects with support for latest version retrieval.
New Events in UIX v2 for better reactivity
The UIX v2 framework now emits ContentChanged and SelectedItemsChanged events, allowing custom UI extensions to react dynamically to changes and user selections.
Built-in virus and malware scanning for SharePoint Embedded
Content stored in SharePoint Embedded is now automatically scanned for viruses and malware by Microsoft Defender for Office 365. Infected files are blocked during upload or download, enhancing overall security for integrated environments.
Attribute warning during app installation
Admins will now see a warning when installing applications that contain custom sandbox attributes, including a link to documentation for further details.
Cloud release: December 14, 2025
Available for download & auto-updates: from December 18, 2025
