What is the Dynamics 365 Sales 2026 Release Wave 1?

Microsoft releases an extensive feature wave (“Release Wave”) for Dynamics 365 twice per year. Each wave delivers new features, improvements, integrations, and AI updates – without traditional large upgrades.
Dynamics 365 Sales is the CRM platform for lead and opportunity management, forecasting, quoting processes, and collaborative selling.

Why now?

The 2026 Release Wave 1 is especially relevant because it:

  • introduces new Copilot and AI agents for research, lead qualification, and opportunity handling
  • improves forecasting & pipeline transparency
  • expands automatic data capture & AI recommendations
  • deepens integrations with Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook & Power Platform
Rollout period: April to September 2026 (Global Availability).

The most important new features at a glance

1. Copilot / AI

  • Ask‑and‑Refine chat for opportunities: dialogue-based AI questions for deal insights and meeting preparation.

2. Sales Productivity & Engagement

  • Enhanced Next Best Actions with cross-workflow contextual recommendations.

3. Pipeline & Forecasting

  • AI-driven data enrichment for opportunities to improve forecast quality.
  • Historical deal pattern analyses to derive more accurate close predictions.

4. Reporting & Insights

6. Usability & Collaboration

  • More transparency in the sales process, optimized navigation & more consistent workflows.
  • Stronger cross-functional collaboration (sales, marketing, service) thanks to centralized AI insights.

Consequences for Dynamics 365 Sales customers

With the 2026 Release Wave 1, Microsoft strengthens AI capabilities primarily to improve lead qualification, opportunity management, forecasting, and team collaboration. Companies benefit from more automation, better data, and higher productivity.

Important note:
At the same time, Microsoft is changing its licensing model and fully replacing AI Builder credits with Copilot credits (end of AI Builder credits by November 1, 2026, at the latest). There is no automatic conversion, meaning companies must assess their individual credit requirements. Feel free to contact us!
