The document management system M-Files continues to evolve, providing organizations with an even more powerful and intuitive solution for managing their information. The June 2025 release delivers numerous updates that offer noticeable improvements for both end users and administrators.
Visual workflows for better overview
The new Desktop Client and Web now offer a refreshed, more visual workflow experience within the metadata card, improving situational awareness and supporting informed decision-making.
Markdown support for Aino
The AI assistant Aino can now correctly render markdown in its responses, providing clearer and more structured output.
Intelligent sorting with previous column
When sorting by a single column, M-Files now uses the previously selected primary sort column as a secondary sort column, enhancing result organization.
Vault selection as widgets on the Home page
In the New Desktop Client, users can now select vaults directly via widgets on the Home page or initiate a global search across multiple vaults.
Class suggestions in Aino Metadata
Aino can now once again suggest classes within the metadata form – a feature that had been temporarily removed in a previous release.
Improved M-Files URLs in Web and Desktop
Common M-Files URL actions such as open, view, edit, and search now work with the new Desktop Client and Web. Additional improvements include property-based search and the ability to create links using external object IDs.
Co-authoring with existing Office documents
Once Desktop Co-Authoring is enabled, users can now also co-author existing Office files, not just new ones. Watch our video on this topic.
Advanced metadata search with tags and views
The metadata search has been enhanced with tag-based filtering, the ability to save filters as views, and improved dropdowns allowing multiple selections.
Primary file selection for multi-file documents
In the Web and New Desktop, users can designate one file as the primary file within a multi-file document. This file’s preview and default actions are prioritized.
Global (Cross-Vault) Search
Users can now perform keyword-based searches across multiple vaults, as long as they are authenticated in those vaults, using the new Desktop Client.
Assisted RPC to gRPC migration support
Client applications now support the migration from RPC to gRPC. Full functionality requires server-side activation, with separate documentation to be made available.
Auto-refresh for external objects not found
If an external object (e.g., from Salesforce) is not found, M-Files can now trigger an automatic refresh of the external object type.
Co-authoring for multi-file documents
Office documents within a multi-file document can now be co-authored, providing greater collaboration flexibility.
Note: Cloud release on June 15, 2025.
