With the release of M-Files Online 26.6, M-Files continues to focus on usability, transparency, and a modern way of working – for both end users and administrators.
Cloud Release: June 14, 2026
Documents can now be previewed immediately after being added – even while completing the metadata card.
This allows users to verify content right away and avoid errors during document filing.
The integration with Microsoft 365 has been further enhanced.
Storage management and coauthoring can now be configured separately. When a Microsoft 365 tenant is present, coauthoring is enabled by default.
Working with related objects is now clearer and more structured.
Relationships can be viewed and managed in a hierarchical tree view. Rules from the classic Desktop client (such as “From” and “To”) are now also available in Web and the new Desktop client.
New settings are disabled by default and should be reviewed before use.
Document organization becomes more flexible.
Traditional folder structures are now available in the new Web and Desktop clients. In addition, workspace folders allow flexible organization within a workspace.
Both features can be enabled separately via Advanced Vault Settings.
TLS certificates can now be updated directly via the M-Files API.
This is particularly useful for automating certificate renewal processes.
Word documents with charts or large tables are now converted to PDF more reliably.
Formatting is preserved more consistently.
Event logs related to Active Directory user group synchronization are now clearer and more consistent.
This makes troubleshooting and system monitoring easier.
Relationships can now be added, edited, or removed directly via the context menu.
A new dialog with filtering options simplifies selection, while a confirmation step adds additional security.
M-Files now clearly indicates when metadata has been generated by AI and provides the reasoning behind it.
This applies to both Aino Metadata and Aino Custom Agents.
The user interface of the new M-Files Desktop can now be updated independently of the full client.
Updates are automatically downloaded when opening a vault with a newer UI version (cloud).
In self-hosted environments, updates are still delivered via client updates.
M-Files 26.6 introduces noticeable improvements across several areas.
Efficiency, flexibility, and transparency are significantly enhanced, making everyday work with M-Files more intuitive, modern, and reliable.
