Release Notes 03/2025: Improvements for M-Files Online

The document management system M-Files continues to evolve to offer companies an even more powerful and intuitive solution for managing their information. The March 2025 release introduces numerous new features that provide noticeable improvements for both end users and administrators.

Change workflow states via context menu (for admins)
Administrators can now change any workflow state directly via the context menu in M-Files Web. The new option "Change state (Admin)" opens a dialog that allows targeted corrections within the workflow.

Default port for new vault connections changed
The default gRPC port for new vault connections has been changed from 7766 to 443 – aligning with the standard port used in cloud environments.

Zero-click object creation with prefilled metadata
In certain views, new objects can now be created via drag & drop without opening the metadata card. Required metadata is automatically prefilled – enabling particularly fast handling.

Object-based hierarchies now available in Web and New Desktop
The object-based hierarchies familiar from the classic client are now also available on the metadata card in M-Files Web and the new Desktop Client.

Display related objects on double-click
In M-Files Web, it can be configured that double-clicking an object (other than documents or document collections) automatically displays all related objects in the listing area – for even better relationship visibility.

Keyboard shortcuts for better navigation
Users can now use keyboard shortcuts in M-Files Web and the new Desktop Client to quickly navigate to key elements such as the search bar, navigation tabs, or application tabs.

Renaming documents in M-Files Web
Documents and files can now also be renamed directly in M-Files Web or the new Desktop Client – via the context menu or by pressing the F2 key.

Support for AutoCAD 2025
The M-Files Add-In for AutoCAD is now fully compatible with AutoCAD 2025.
