Microsoft announces standardisation of billing structure and price adjustments

Changes to the pricing structure will come into force on 1 April 2025 - Microsoft is standardising the billing options for annual subscriptions and adjusting the prices for some products, including Microsoft Teams Phone and Power BI.

The most important changes at a glance:

• New billing option for Microsoft 365 Copilot:
  A monthly billing plan for annual subscriptions will be introduced from 1 December 2024. This will cost 5% more than the annual upfront payment and offers additional flexibility for companies.
• Price updates for monthly billing plans:
  From 1 April 2025, annual subscriptions to all products billed monthly will be 5% more expensive than the annual billing option. However, customers can switch to the cheaper annual billing option at the time of renewal.
• Price adjustments for Teams Phone and Power BI:
  The prices for stand-alone licences for these products are also rising:
  • Teams Phone Standard: 10 $ per user/month
  • Power BI Pro: 14 $ per user/month
  • Power BI Premium Pro: 24 $ per user/month

According to Microsoft, these measures serve to ensure flexibility in billing and reflect the added value of the services.

What this means for CSP customers?
For existing subscriptions, the new prices only apply upon renewal. Companies should review their billing models in good time and switch to annual billing if necessary in order to save costs.
