From April 1, 2026, Microsoft will permanently disable so-called Basic Authentication for SharePoint Online. This measure is part of Microsoft’s strategy to enhance security and promote modern authentication methods such as OAuth 2.0.
What does this mean for you as a user of the DMS Connector?
Until now, the DMS Connector has logged in to SharePoint Online using Basic Authentication. To ensure your systems continue to run smoothly and securely after the cut-off date, a switch to a modern authentication method is required.
TSO-DATA supports you during the transition
As a Microsoft partner and provider of the DMS Connector, we have already developed our solution so that it fully supports the new authentication method. We place special emphasis on security while ensuring full compatibility with SharePoint Online. Our aim: A seamless transition for your company, transparent, secure and with minimal effort for your IT.
If you already use Business Central Online, the update of the DMS Connector can be done conveniently via AppSource. Afterwards, the setup of the new authentication method is required. This is based on a self-generated certificate and includes the registration of the DMS Connector app in SharePoint. A detailed guide can be found in the documentation for the DMS Connector for SharePoint. Of course, TSO-DATA will gladly support you in the setup.
If you use Business Central On-Premises (locally), we will approach you individually to jointly review which version is currently in use and what generally (e.g., individual customizations) must be considered when updating to the latest version of the DMS Connector. Based on this information we will then develop an appropriate path to switch to the new authentication method.
