New Business Central On-Premises purchase license - last opportunity

On April 1, 2025, Microsoft will discontinue the purchase of new Business Central On-Premises licenses with Enhancement Plan. This means that companies will no longer be able to acquire new purchase versions, which are associated with a one-off payment and an annual update fee.

What does this mean for existing customers?

The good news is that existing licenses can still be extended. Anyone who already has a Business Central On-Premises license can add modules or users. However, new database licenses with their own account number are no longer available.

What alternatives are there?

Microsoft offers two license models as a replacement, which are based on the cloud strategy and the “pay-per-use” model:

  • Business Central On-Premises Subscription: Pure on-premises use (local or hosted) based on a subscription model.
  • Business Central Online via Dual Use: Hybrid model for flexible use of Business Central both locally and in the cloud (SaaS).

Companies that want to continue using Business Central On-Premises or need a new license should act now to secure the desired solution in time.
