Power BI Desktop – Februar 2021 Update

This month's features include some updates to the ongoing preview to Power Apps and Dynamics 365 Release Wave 1 2021, as well as a new colour picker with RGB colour selection and a search bar to make it easier to spot features. It also introduces new filter options and simplifies the configuration of email subscription attachments.

Colour Picker

The colour picker has been updated to make it easier to work with. The colour fields are now more clearly separated from each other, making it easier to find the desired colour. In the "Other colours" view, you can now enter an RGB value in addition to a HEX value.

For comparison, here is the existing and the updated version side by side:

Search bar

A search bar has been added to the Power BI desktop ribbon, which is already available in other Office products. This facilitates direct access to commands, files or options.

When clicking on the search bar, Power BI already suggests some actions that can be performed based on the current status of your report. When a keyword is entered, the search results are updated and display buttons related to the search. When a picture or field is selected, the ribbon displays special tabs with buttons that apply to that selection. Please note that the search bar is currently only available in the English language version of Power BI Desktop.

New filter options

In Power BI Desktop, the filter options "is empty" and "is not empty" are now available for filtering empty text contents ("" and spaces) in addition to the previous options for filtering existing or non-existing field contents ("null" u. "not null").

Email subscription attachments

The Power BI Premium and PPU licences now allow users to make subscriptions for themselves as well as for other users. Furthermore, reports can now be subscribed to in full - which is equivalent to exporting the report as an attachment in PDF or .PPT format.

You can find all the information about the new features and functions of the update on the official Microsoft Power BI blog and in this video:
