Do you want to have transparent and clear access to your company data - whether in your office or on the road? Then Microsoft Power BI is the right entry point for your business intelligence from the Microsoft Cloud. The solution is regularly updated and is therefore always up to date.
In the April & May 2022 updates of Microsoft's business intelligence solution Power BI, new features and previews were provided. We would like to introduce some of them here.
New format area
We have already presented the new format area in more detail here, it can be tested as a preview so far. In parallel, Microsoft is making further optimisations resulting from the feedback of the many users and announces the general availability for June.
Error bar
Since the update in March 2022, so-called error bars can be added to line charts to visualise special uncertainties in the data. These error bars are now also available for clustered column and bar charts with the April update and error bars will also be introduced in combo charts (column and line combination charts) with the May update.
Push notifications
The push notifications in the mobile apps help users to always stay up to date and thus to be able to react at short notice if necessary. Two new notification types are now available, which draw attention to when the recipient has been assigned a destination on the one hand, but also when he or she has been mentioned in the context of a note.
Canvas zoom
To improve the readability of reports, Microsoft has added a slider that allows different zoom levels. Report creators are also supported in this way and can use it to enlarge their workspace to make pixel-perfect adjustments. Canvas Zoom was delivered in desktop, service read mode and service edit mode.
Data point rectangle select
Rectangle selection for data points is now generally available. This function allows you to select data points multiple times by clicking and dragging a supported visual.
Field Parameters
Microsoft announced a new preview feature called Field Parameters with the May update. This allows users to dynamically change the metrics or dimensions analysed in a report. This feature helps end users customise the report's analysis and reporting criteria by selecting different metrics or dimensions.
These features in detail and further information on the April update can be found here in the Microsoft Power BI Blog. Microsoft has prepared information on the May update here, further explanations are available in this video:
