TARGIT: Changes to sending emails with Exchange Online from September 2025

Microsoft will discontinue support for SMTP authentication in Exchange Online from September 2025. This affects all companies that use TARGIT in conjunction with Exchange Online to send emails.

To ensure that your TARGIT installation continues to work reliably in the future, a technical conversion to the modern MS Graph API is required. 

TARGIT provides suitable options for this from the following versions onwards:

• TARGIT On-Prem: From version May 2025 (planned release: May 28, 2025)
• TARGIT Cloud: From May 14, 2025

What to do now:

• Feedback to the BI team at TSO-DATA to coordinate the procedure
• Update to the latest TARGIT version before September 2025
• Change the configuration in the TARGIT Management Client from SMTP to MS Graph API

Note: If you do not use Exchange Online but operate your own mail server, you are not affected by this change.
