For more than 15 years, representatives of the IT company TSO-DATA have been gathering at Haus am Schlehenbusch for a joint Advent coffee and bringing generous donations to the curative education and therapeutic youth welfare facility. Once again this year, the company's Managing Director, Dirk Frommeyer, took the opportunity to personally hand over the cheque. Together with his colleague, Timm Reichl, they handed over €4,000. This will go directly to the institution's support association, known as 'Leitfunke'.
They also took the opportunity to discuss the current situation at the facility and ideas for using the donation. Ms. Haesihus, head of the Schlehenbusch home, and Mr. Westermann, head of the Diakonie's inpatient youth welfare department, reported on various projects and other needs. In addition to planning a larger art project, which has already taken place this year in a smaller form (making peace steles), the facility wants to further promote the young people's musical interests. It would be great if, at some point, residents of the facility would dare to show off their (re)discovered musical skills in public. The facility would be happy to provide support in any form for this.
Furthermore, it is the annual highlights of the young people in our care that are co-financed by the donations. Especially in the leisure activities, the young people experience the joy of everyday life again and again and sometimes add new positive episodes to their special life stories. Whether it is a visit to sporting events, amusement parks or simply swimming pools. It is the activities that bring joy and simply provide a distraction from the stresses of everyday life. In particular, the annual vacation camps for the residential groups in the summer are one of the highlights of the year and are intended to give the young people the feeling of being on vacation. This sometimes requires longer trips and more expensive vacation homes, which would be almost impossible to use without additional funding. On site, they can then take advantage of the sports, fun and leisure activities on offer or simply leave the kitchen cold to enjoy a good meal together as a group.
It was fitting that TSO-DATA surprised the young people with 20 zoo admission tickets to the Haus am Schlehenbusch.
