The Osnabrück IT specialists have been a sponsor and official IT partner of Osnabrück Zoo since 2015. At the start of the partnership, a customer management system based on Microsoft Dynamics 365 was introduced in cooperation with Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. In the current cooperation, the focus was on the animals and their supply.
In order to be able to present the monitoring of feed supply and organisation for the numerous animal inhabitants at Osnabrück Zoo in a modern and transparent way for all parties involved, the experts from TSO-DATA rely on the ERP solution Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central at its core. In the case of the zoo, this enables the exact registration of feed quantities, whether it is the inflow of feed via orders or donations or the outflow for feeding in the respective areas. In this way, consumption is precisely recorded and planning reliability is increased.
The zoo users' desire for easy operation of the system on mobile platforms was taken into account. Since the Microsoft Power Platform can now be fully integrated into the processes, the product Power Apps was chosen from this portfolio, which can easily communicate with Business Central. For this purpose, TSO-DATA created intuitive masks that make it easy for users to enter all processes quickly and up-to-date and also to consume/read data.
The data is entered in the Power Apps application and then temporarily stored in a Dataverse table, where it can be adapted and expanded as required. In a nightly routine, the data collected in this way is transferred to the ERP system via Power Automate (Power Platform). Here, the processing can then be completed. The advantage of this is that the user only sees the current day's input and can concentrate on the essentials.
In the feed kitchen, the current consumption is recorded on a tablet.
The assembled baskets are then delivered to the respective precincts.
At the end of the process chain, the tidbits end up at their destination, with the popular furry buyers of the feed.
After the successful start, the digitalisation of further processes is already being considered, which can be implemented with this easily expandable and customisable system.
