Effective February 1, 2027, Microsoft will adjust pricing for selected Azure Virtual Machines and Azure Storage services across several regions. Depending on the Azure region, prices will increase by between 8% and 17%. Organizations using the affected Azure resources should take these changes into account when planning their future cloud costs.
Price Increases Across Seven Azure Regions
The announced price adjustments will affect selected Azure Virtual Machines and Azure Storage services in a total of seven regions.
Microsoft attributes these changes to current market conditions and continued investments in capacity, reliability, security, and performance. The adjustments are also intended to bring pricing across Azure regions into closer alignment.
The following price increases will take effect on February 1, 2027:
For many European Azure environments, the West Europe (Amsterdam) and North Europe (Dublin) regions are particularly relevant.
Not All Azure Services Are Affected
The price adjustments do not apply to all Azure resources.
Microsoft has excluded several VM series from the regional price increases. These include Bv1, D, Ds, F, Fs, G, Gs, Dv2, Dsv2, and Fsv2, as well as selected v7 series.
Various Azure Storage services are also excluded, including Azure Container Storage, Azure Managed Lustre, General Block Blob, Standard Page Blob, Queues, and Tables.
A more detailed overview of the affected and excluded services is available here.
The actual impact on an Azure environment depends on the services, VM series, and Azure regions in use.
What Does This Mean for Azure Customers?
Microsoft recommends taking the updated regional pricing into account when planning both existing and future Azure workloads. Organizations should review the changes in relation to their current resource usage, budgets, and existing reservations.
Azure customers should therefore factor the announced price adjustments into their cost forecasts and budget planning for 2027.
