Microsoft's Power BI, an advanced business intelligence platform, enables users to integrate data from a variety of sources, analyze it in depth and present it in an impressive way. Power BI can be used to generate interactive dashboards and reports that provide critical insights for business decisions. In November 2023, Microsoft introduced several important updates and enhancements for Power BI. Here we present three outstanding new features of this update.
Renaming of datasets to semantic models
Power BI has renamed datasets to "semantic models" to avoid confusion with other elements in Fabric and to increase usability. This change reflects the progress of Power BI datasets as an enterprise-class technology.
DAX Query View
With the new DAX Query View preview feature, users can quickly explore and analyze their semantic models with DAX queries. This enables more efficient validation of data and measures in the semantic models.
Copilot for Power BI in Microsoft Fabric
The public preview of Copilot in Microsoft Fabric, including its integration with Power BI, enables users to quickly create reports in the Power BI web experience. Copilot uses artificial intelligence to make suggestions and simplify complex data. Copilot can also generate synonyms for fields, measures and tables and helps summarize data in the Smart Narrative Visual.
These new features are significant improvements to Power BI and demonstrate the tool's continued evolution towards a more user-friendly and powerful data analytics platform.
