Warehouse management systems are also called warehouse management systems (WMS) in the software industry. Their task is the management of warehouses and distribution centers. Optimizations, e.g. for putaway processes and picking procedures, are mapped in these systems. The aim is to achieve the most economical use of the available storage capacity and efficient personnel deployment.
Depending on the warehouse, goods movements, such as picking, are carried out with picking lists or paperless with PDC devices or by pick-by-voice or pick-by-light.
