August 2024 Release Notes: Improvements in M-Files Online

The M-Files document management system offers companies an intelligent solution for managing and organising documents and information.

M-Files is an advanced document management system that provides a centralised platform for managing documents, workflows and information. It enables easy search and access to documents, regardless of where they are stored, and promotes collaboration within the organisation.

With the latest optimisations in the August 2024 release, M-Files is even more powerful and user-friendly:

  • License agreement removed from start menu and system tray menu: A shortcut to the M-Files license agreement is no longer shown in the Windows start menu and the menu opened through the M-Files system tray icon. You can find the license agreement in M-Files Customer Support Portal.
  • Search within the current view can be set as default for built-in views: It is now possible to enable the search in current view as default. This option can be set for temporary built-in views, which are created through "Browse relationships" feature in M-Files Desktop. Users can turn the option off and on from the filters tab. The new setting can be found in M-Files Admin, in "Configuration > Client > Desktop > Search > Search Bar > Default Search Options > Search within view enabled by default in built-in views".
  • Possibility to send check-in request in M-Files Web: It is now possible to ask the object to be checked-in in M-Files Web. The user who has the object checked out will get check-in request by email.
  • Redirection of classic M-Files Web collection members to M-Files Web: When classic M-Files Web is disabled, the existing links to collection members are now redirected to M-Files Web.
  • Assigned and Checked out tabs in M-Files Web: M-Files Web now has tabs Assigned and Checked out. The default tab is All.
  • Possibility to manually customize object permissions in M-Files Web: You can now customize object permissions manually in M-Files Web. With the customized permissions, you can bypass object's predefined collection of permissions settings (also known as named access control list or NACL) and give users and user groups specific access rights as needed.
