Further development of Office 365

Recently, Microsoft introduced a new subscription model for private customers with Microsoft 365 Single and Family. As a further development of Office 365, the offer for small and medium-sized companies will also be united under the umbrella of Microsoft 365 from April 21, 2020. The price and range of functions will remain unchanged.

 

The new product name is also being incorporated into the Office 365 plans, whose names will change as follows:

• Office 365 Business Essentials will become Microsoft 365 Business Basic
• Office 365 Business Premium will become Microsoft 365 Business Standard
• Microsoft 365 Business will become Microsoft 365 Business Premium
• Office 365 Business and Office 365 ProPlus will become Microsoft 365 Apps. The terms "for Business" and "for Enterprise" are used for differentiation.

This change will be implemented automatically from 21 April 2020. However, only the names of the products are changed with this step, not the scope of functions or prices.

Why is Microsoft making these changes?
Microsoft wants the products to reflect the full range of features and benefits of the subscription. Microsoft 365 is an integrated set of applications and features that supports users with the latest intelligent technologies. The new product names are designed to help customers from small and medium-sized enterprises to quickly find the most suitable offer for their individual needs.

How do I find Office in Microsoft 365? Are Word, Excel and PowerPoint still available?
The Office applications Word, Excel and PowerPoint remain at the heart of the productivity offerings. In recent years, however, the cloud offering has grown far beyond what is traditionally understood by the "office". In Microsoft 365, the applications are being enhanced with cloud and AI technology and new cloud-based applications such as Teams, Stream, Forms and Planner are being added. Additional services ensure data security and protection.

Are there any new or different features in Microsoft 365 Apps for Business or Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise than in Office 365 Business or Office 365 ProPlus?
There are currently no changes to the features or prices of these offers.

When will Microsoft 365 Business and Microsoft 365 Apps for Business be available?
All new offers are available from 21 April 2020.

Will all Office 365 plans be abolished?
None of the plans will be abolished. The same offers will be available in the future, but under a new product name. In the case of Office 365 Enterprise, the name remains the same.

I am already an SME customer. What do I have to do?
Users who already have Office 365 Business, Office 365 Business Essentials, Office 365 Business Premium, Office 365 ProPlus or Microsoft 365 Business do not need to do anything. The changes described above are made automatically.
