Do you want to have transparent and clear access to your company data - whether in your office or on the road? Then Microsoft Power BI is the right entry point for your business intelligence from the Microsoft Cloud. For the June update of Microsoft's business intelligence solution Power BI, some new features and previews have been made available.
Visual for paginated reports
The long-awaited paginated report visual for Power BI reports can now be tested as a preview feature. This native Power BI visual allows you to render any paginated report you have uploaded to the service in a Power BI report for the first time. You can connect fields from your Power BI dataset to use as parameter values, providing a fully interactive experience with the paginated report.
Transparency slider for area charts
You can now adjust the transparency of the coloured areas in your area and stacked area charts. Previously, this transparency was set to 60% by default. The transparency value is adjusted on the Data Colours tab in the Formatting area.
Updated connector for Dynamics 365 Business Central
Faster and more robust data analytics is key for any modern business running its ERP system in the cloud. Business Central already offers tight integration with Power BI, but relies on web services. This new release enables the use of APIs as richer and more powerful data sources for Business Central reports hosted in Power BI.
Customers can now create reports and dashboards using modern Business Central APIs, including the built-in APIs v2.0 provided with Business Central and also custom APIs created by partners or vendors. This gives users access to better and faster data analytics in Power BI, while maintaining full backwards compatibility. By the way, for the most important sales reports, TSO-DATA offers the Power BI Sales Module for Business Central, which automatically prepares the key figures from the ERP solution.
New look for the Power BI Windows app
In this release, Microsoft previews the new look of the Power BI Windows app. The new look features a completely redesigned home page that provides a central hub for all Power BI content, allowing quick and easy access in one place.
To activate the new look of the Windows app, the latest version of the Windows app from the Store must be installed. As soon as it is opened, you will see the "New look" button at the top of the screen. There you can switch on the new look without restarting the app.
These are just some of the new features, you can find more on the Microsoft Power BI blog and summarised in this video:
