Power BI: Innovations in August 2023

On-Object Interaction (Preview) - Updates

The new On-Object Interaction feature was previewed back in March. In the August version the following functions were added:

• Resizing and positioning in the object menus.
  Added the ability to resize object menus horizontally, which is especially helpful when working with long field names. The positioning of the menus on the object has also been optimized to make better use of the workspace. Previously, when a visual element was at the bottom of the canvas, the object menu was very small and required scrolling to see and use the field fields. Now, the On-Object menu moves up and expands into the canvas to bring the field wells into view without having to scroll.

• Object-based format subselections are now supported in Spotlight and Focus modes
  When highlighting a visual element or expanding the visual element in focus mode, object-based formatting can now be used to select and format styles. In focus mode, it can be difficult to tell when you have switched to format mode using only the subtle border. To address this issue, a button has been added to the header that better indicates when you are in format mode and how to exit format mode while remaining in focus mode.
