Microsoft's Power BI, an innovative platform for business intelligence, allows users to collect large amounts of data from various sources, examine it in detail and visualize it in a compelling way. By using Power BI, users can create dynamic dashboards and reports that provide essential insights for business decisions. In February 2024, Microsoft made a number of significant updates and improvements to Power BI. Below we present three outstanding new features of the latest update.
New visual - 100 % stacked area chart
Microsoft introduces the new 100% stacked area chart, now available in the image gallery. These visuals show the relative percentage of multiple data series in stacked areas, where the sum is always 100%. It's perfect for showing the relationship of each series to the whole and how they change over time. It can be found in the visual gallery, in the dialog box for objects or in the format area right next to the "Stacked Area" chart.
Line extensions
The new line control functions take the display of line diagrams to the next level.
Storytelling in PowerPoint - Improved image mode in the Power BI add-in for PowerPoint
Saving Power BI content as an image is now easier and more powerful.
A new drop-down menu has been added to the footer of the add-in for this purpose. In this menu, you can select whether live data or a snapshot is displayed. This makes it much easier to find out where to switch between live data and a static image.
Secondly, users now have two options for snapshots:
Thirdly, the default snapshot has been disabled so that the slide thumbnail does not display the image by default (this also applies, for example, when the slide is copied and pasted into an email), but only after the add-in has been loaded and the required permissions have been checked.
And finally, this setting is also taken into account when the presentation is opened in PowerPoint for the web.
You can find more information on the new functions in Microsoft's Power BI blog and in this video:
