End of support for Exchange 2013

Most Microsoft products have a support lifecycle in which they receive new features, bug fixes, security fixes, and so on. This lifecycle usually lasts 10 years from the first version of the product. The end of this lifecycle is called the end of support for the product. Since Exchange 2013 reaches its end of support on April 11, 2023, Microsoft will not provide the following after that date:

  • Technical support for issues that may occur.
  • Bug fixes for issues that may affect the stability and usability of the server.
  • Security fixes for vulnerabilities that might make the server vulnerable to security breaches.
  • Time zone updates.

Your installation of Exchange 2013 will continue to run after this date. However, due to the changes listed above, it is highly recommended that you migrate from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2019 as soon as possible to ensure your data remains secure. Especially in the email infrastructure, discontinued products can have a big impact, as they usually have a direct connection to the Internet, making them an easy target for cybercriminals.

The following options are available for this:

  • Migrate to Microsoft 365: Migrate mailboxes, public folders and other data using adoption, minimal hybrid or full hybrid migration. Then remove on-premises Exchange servers.
  • Upgrade from Exchange 2013: Move to Exchange 2019 for your on-premises servers.

If you are currently still using Exchange 2013, contact us now so we can work together to determine the best course of action for you. We look forward to hearing from you.
